In Smartphones : Treo Quite a few people have been waiting for Cingular to get the PalmOne Treo 650, since up to now the only way to get a hold of the smartphone is to sign up with Sprint's CDMA service. It's definitely going to happen soon—there have just been too many signals heralding its release this week to think otherwise—but this is the first actual, branded picture I've seen of the phone. It looks like a Treo 650... with a Cingular logo. Amazing, I know. The Treo 650 on Cingular should support EDGE, the stop-gap GSM data speed up that should put the Cingular model's data speeds on par with Sprint's (give or take). Until Verizon drops the price of their EV-DO offerings (and gets an EV-DO Treo, hopefully), Cingular's pretty much the only other mid-range data speed game in town. Cingular Treo 650 [Treonauts] |
