DON'T BUY BOTZAM BACKUP and DON'T SHOP AT PALMGEAR

I USED to be a big fan of both of these folks, but since they mistreated *my own mother* so badly, refused to answer any email and basically have stolen money without delivering the goods, all I can say is spare yourself the agony and wated money and time of dealing with these folks and shop elsewhere. MyTreo.net has been good so far. Let me know if anyone else has been mistreated by these guys and maybe we can have some sort of legal action brought against this theft.

I still have no reply from you and no reply from the developer. You have lost my business, and I will be letting my readers know of your unethical business practices. Fredlet

Comment: Hey guys, I have always recommended your site to people I have spoken to, but given the way my mother has been mistreated on one of her orders and the fact that she NEVER received any kind of a response from you or the developer (for Botzam Backup) and now her 30 bucks is wasted on a useless piece of software, I am not inclined to recommend you anymore. I will give you one last chance at a response, after that I will have to talk about my experience here on my reviews and correspondance and recommend someone else to buy software from... any chance at making this right?

Thanks, fredlet

Ask Jack | Technology | Guardian Unlimited Technology

Ask Jack | Technology | Guardian Unlimited Technology: "Mobile Skype Is there any Skype software for my Treo 600 phone, please? Clare Nesbitt JS: There is an 18-month-old petition asking Skype to support Palm devices at www.petitionspot.com, but there's no sign that it will. You could use EQO for Skype software (www.eqo.com), which connects a mobile to Skype but, as far as I can see, only via a PC. Also check out the iSkoot beta (www.iskoot.com). However, there may be better options. MobiVoIP (http://mobivoip.net) claims to have the first VoIP software for PalmOS, while UK-based Hampton Software offers Articulation (www.hamptonsoftware.co.uk)."
Actually, there is a version for the 650 but it uses a Java plugin that does nasty things to the phone. So tread carefully here. The Palm OS doesn't work terribly well with the Java stufff (well, in my experience, your mileage may vary)

Most likely my next Treo

Palm - Products - Palm Treo™ 680 Smartphone

Google Maps For Palm Treo

Google Maps For Palm Treo Review (95%) - Digital-Lifestyles.info:

"20 Oct 2006 Google Maps For Palm Treo ReviewAlthough it was announced as part of the forthcoming Palm Treo 680 smartphone package, Google has already made its Google Maps application available for free download."
I got this email when I was out eating dinner Friday night... so, as I spend the crapload of money to have an unlimited wireeless connection on my Treo 600, I use the hell out of it and downloaded the app directly. Well, apparently Google has failed me (and a rare thing that is). The app directly downloaded from their site did NOT want to load on the Treo. Third time was NOT the charm. Anyhoo, I went back to my old standby of myTreo.net and downloaded it from there. No problemo. As for Google maps on the Treo, frankly anything has to be an improvement over MapQuest. It was useless on my screen. Google maps is a pretty faithful reproduction of the web version. Zooming in and out, satellite view... its all briliant. This is a must for Treos.

Possible Verizon Treo Launch Date : Gizmodo

Possible Verizon Treo Launch Date : Gizmodo: "Possible Verizon Treo Launch Date filed under Smartphones : Treo Phone Arena is saying to expect the PalmOne Treo 650 from Verizon on May 11th for business customers, with a consumer launch to follow on the 23rd. That’s not confirmed, mind you, but just a rumor. And while we’re talking about rumors, most of the people I’ve had a chance to ask about the wireless networking speeds of the Verizon 650 have said not to expect EV-DO. That’s dumb—why did it take half-a-year to launch on Verizon if they weren’t making it any better? Treo 650 to be available from Verizon Wireless on May 11, 2005 [PhoneArena via Mozongo]"

Unlocking the Treo 650 from Cingular

treo.jpgThis isn't a new unlock code, but I wanted to post up -why- people unlock phones. "So I'm off to Thailand for 2 weeks tomorrow (more on this later). Here's the code and a post from Rojo's Kevin Burton. "I wanted to unlock my phone so that I could buy a prepaid GSM SIM chip to use my phone in Thailand for cheap. The only problem is that stupid Cingular locks the phone but you can just buy a new SIM chip".

Windows Mobile Treo Pictures (Maybe)

In Smartphones: Treo

treo_670mobile.jpg Prototype Treo 650 pictures, or a new Windows Mobile-powered 'Treo 670?' The guy who took these pictures said it ran Windows Mobile. PalmOne should be able to tell us for sure: if they say it's a mock-up, it doesn't run Windows Mobile. If they don't say anything at all, it has to be true.

Boing Boing

Dave Barry's funny gadget-bag

By Cory Doctorow

Cory Doctorow: Dave Barry reveals the contents of his gadget bag in a funny piece on Gizmodo.

I have a Sprint network card that plugs into my notebook so I can get on the Internet anywhere. That is the good news. The bad news is, it’s pretty slow. It is just now receiving radio signals originally broadcast by Marconi.

My phone is a Treo 600. It’s a bit too big, but I like that it syncs easily with my computers, and it has everything in it — contacts, calendars, email, and a really, really bad camera, which I call “The CrapCam.” I take pictures on it and post them to my blog, mainly because the quality of the photos enrages the blog readers and causes them to rant in an entertaining manner.
